Suan Somdet Ya Srinagarindra Park

Suan Somdet Ya or Srinagarindra Park in Nonthaburi, was opened on March 6 1993 by Galyani Vadhana, Princess of Naradhiwas.  Her Royal Highness was sent as a representative of His Majesty the King Rama IX and the park was named after The Princess Mother Srinagarindra in honor of her 80th birthday. With an area of about 41 acres (170,000 m2), it is a huge public park with a great lake surrounded by plants. The area is just the perfect place for a relaxing day in the shade.

Located at Ban Mai, Pakkred District of Nonthaburi, a large portion of the Srinagarindra Park is left in the original condition. This is due to the archeological nature of the site and as precaution for any eventual excavation projects in the area. Suan Somdet Ya is nonetheless a public park and is a popular area for local residents to relax and exercise.

Suan Somdet Ya is the perfect green area to escape to on a weekend. With a number of large trees and an enormous pond, the park is there to amaze visitors. Srinagarindra Park also boasts a Thai style pavilion which is a reproduction of the Princess Mother’s childhood home. There have been plans to develop some parts of Suan Somdet Ya into an herbal park in the years to come.

Suan Somdet Ya has two entrances with the most dramatic one located in Sri Saman Road. The entrance is spectacular giant flowery clock. Brick walkways were built for visitors comfort, but also add to the beauty of the park as they go along the great lake with beautiful skyline of Muang Thong. The most terrific setting in Srinagarindra Park is dancing fountain in center of the lake. The lake itself is rife with fish, making it even more popular with local residents and children who enjoy feeding the fish. Visitors can also find Suan Somdet Ya is a great place to work out with an outdoor gym and running track with mile markers around the lake. With so much greenery and natural beauty,Srinagarindra Park became a popular for wedding photo shoots over the years. The second entrance located next to Muang Thong Thani, only 500 meters from Novotel Bangkok IMPACT. Get your fill of nature and fresh air during your stay and try a walk at Suan Somdet Ya.
