Novotel Bangkok IMPACT - Family & Business trip hotel - Museum Siam

Museum Siam

Museum Siam is a museum unlike any other you may have visited. Visitors will be surprised by the stark contrast between the building’s architecture and what can be enjoyed inside. The museum is located in a neoclassical house complete with a grand wooden staircase which originally housed the Ministry of Commerce. Once you step inside, the fun begins and the museum takes you on an adventure to explore the origins of Thai people and their culture, using modern interactive technology.

Museum Siam is both entertaining and educational, not the usual display of historical artefacts and mannequins you would expect in a museum. While those displays are there, they are also refreshingly incorporated with very modern elements. For example, the grand stair case and old fashioned columns are paired with very modern art and advanced technology. Both modern and classic elements blend in perfect harmony to give visitors a very unique and memorable experience. The entire museum is dedicated to all things Thai: the history of Thai people and the evolution of their culture and traditions.

Museum Siam does it very well and in a very creative way with a giant ribbon feature which guides visitors through the journey. The ribbon or “The Roong” is used as panoramic screen on which visitors can watch a movie telling the story of Thailand and illustrating Thai spirit which lasts about 10 minutes. From room to room, ‘The Roong’ journeys from Ayutthaya era to modern day Thailand and takes you to the second part of the museum which is dedicated to the influence of the Western world on Thai culture. Young and young at heart will be incapable of resisting the urge to take selfies in this unique museum.
