The Muay Thai Institute opened in 1997 by General Vimol Vongwanich and General Chetta Thanajaro. The two generals saw the world’s growing interest in Thailand’s ancient art of self-defence and became concerned about the quality of trainers. The institute’s main goal is to preserve and promote the art of Muay Thai, but also to make it accessible to all.
The Muay Thai Institute is located in Rangsit, not far from Novotel Bangkok IMPACT. It offers accredited training courses for boxers, instructors and referees. The instructors are all former champions who hold a degree in physical education and all speak English. The institute is recognized by the Ministry of Education and now boasts international fame. The school trains students from Australia, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, New Zealand, Spain, Sweden, the U.K., and other parts of the world. Thai students, including female boxers, come for recreational and professional courses.
The Muay Thai Institute covers not only the fundamentals of Thai boxing, but also the historical and cultural background. Students must be motivated and equipped with strong physical skills and endurance for intense physical training. The courses also include a tour to Bangkok’s major stadiums, so students can experience the real thing live.
Muay Thai for Instructors is ideal for those who want to become Muay Thai instructors. The program comprises three 15-day courses. For more information, please do not hesitate to contact our concierge.
