Novotel Bangkok IMPACT - Family & Business trip hotel - Bang Krachao

Bang Krachao

Bang Krachao also known as the “lungs of Bangkok” this island of green space is also an oasis for peace and quiet in the big city. Located just across the Chao Phraya River from Klong Toey, the area got its nickname from the unusual shape of the forest as seen from a plane landing in the Big Mango.

Over the years and with increased congestion and pollution, the nickname is now even more fitting. Fortunately, one thing hasn’t changed; it is probably Bangkok’s best kept secret. There you will find nothing but coconuts, little villages, jungle, Buddhist temples and cycling paths.

The main feature of this area is the 100 acre Sri Nakhon Kuenkhan Park, a giant oasis of trees, lakes, and shaded pavilions located just a kilometer down from the ferry pier. There are several food vendors and drink stops interspersed throughout the park for having a picnic and enjoying the tranquil surroundings.

From the Bang Krachao pier, bicycles are available for rent. Cycling through this gorgeous green space is the a perfect way to the small villages with homes built on wooden stilts, reminiscent of how Bangkok must have looked fifty or one hundred years ago. Tourists are very few out there and residents always give a very warm reception to visitors.
