The Royal Thai Air Force Museum is certainly off the beaten path, but it is a very much worth a visit. Largely underrated, this small museum is packed full of historical significance and rare antique aircrafts. It is a great place to visit for aviation enthusiasts, but is also extremely popular among children. The museum was established in 1952 and displays both military aircraft as well as relics throughout the history of aviation in Thailand. It is home to the only remaining Japanese Tachigawa trainer and the first aircraft designed and built solely by Thais.
The Royal Thai Air Force Museum is a small but has a very interesting plane collection. Hidden near Don Muang Airport, the museum is mostly popular among local residents and air force familiars. It covers the entire history of Thai Aviation from the Kingdom’s very first plane. There are around thirty airplanes displayed outdoors and some indoors in a couple of large hangars.
Plane specialists may find the Royal Thai Air Force Museum very modest, but anyone with an interest in old flying machines will definitely appreciate the collection on display. Some are actually one of a kind like the two seat bomber “Paribatra” which was the first plane designed and built in Thailand back in April, 1927.
