The Buddhadasa Indapanno Archives (BIA) also known as ‘Suan Mokkh Bangkok’ is a one of a kind Dharma learning and edutainment center. It is named after the late founder of a famous meditation retreat in Surat Thani, Wat Suan Mokkh. The center aims to help people attain Nirvana. This center permanently houses collection and database for original written works by Buddhadasa Bhikkhu. BIA also facilitates visitors for meditation, lectures, discussions and exhibitions; it is a go to reference for Buddhist teachings.
Buddhadasa Indapanno Archives is at the northern end of Suan Wachira Benchathat near Chatuchak Weekend Market. It sits over the large pond and offers beautiful views. It is one of the few and most beautiful post-modernist building complexes in Thailand. There is a large bookstore on the first floor in an open area where guests can find a wide selection of Dharma books. The books are available in both Thai and English. The second floor has a large classroom and a large meditation room. This is where all the meditation classes take place, offering a “Taste of Nirvana”. Visitors can also enjoy a large rooftop garden with the third floor as the administrative departments.
Suan Mokkh in Surat Thani is of course the key inspiration for the design concept of Buddhadasa Indapanno Archives. Dharma, which is the core of Buddha’s concept, is the main inspiration. The buildings have both a modern and rustic feel. The design is clean and neat while staying functional. Visitors can find sculptures illustrating Buddhist beliefs as well as other world religions.
The center is open daily and offers activities in Thai mostly, but also in English. Just ask our concierge for more information.
